Home Tutors

Martin Holmes, who lives in Sabinillas, offers a range of Educational Services.

Firstly, Home Tutors is intended for school students, of both Primary and Secondary age, in Spanish or international schools, who need support with their schoolwork or require extra challenges. Lesson can take place in the student's own home.

The normal full range of Primary academic subjects is covered, with a focus on language work at Secondary level. As well as Spanish and English, tuition is available in French and German. Students now in Spanish schools, as well as receiving support with Spanish language, both academic and social, can also be helped with UK national curriculum subject-work including maths, science, English language and literature, and specifically the spelling and composition skills so easily neglected once working in a new language.

The requirement of those with special needs are taken into account, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, several students whose parents felt that an "extra push" was needed, either in existing subjects or in new areas such as an extra language, have seen the benefits.

GCSE and A-level courses are offered and students entered for the exam at nearby local centres.

Home tuition is also offered for adults who prefer to learn Spanish or another language on an individual basis.

Spanish Group Classes

These are held on an informal basis in Sabinillas. There are two lessons per week, each of one-and-a-half hours, on Mondays and Wednesdays. One group meets in the morning, the other in the evening (especially popular with those who work).

The teaching approach is varied and flexible with a range of up-to-date communicative materials use that cover the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing within a clear functional and structured syllabus. Part of the lesson time is devoted to any specific areas of difficulty experienced, often being proposed by the students themselves.
