The Moroccan restaurant "Jasmine" in Sabinillas will host a Moroccan Dinner, organised by the Manilva Foreigners Department, during which diners will be able to sample a variety of typical dishes representing the cuisine of this exotic country which draws on influences from many cultures.
The dinner will take place on 12 November, from 7.30 pm and during the evening there will be a performance of traditional dance and the cost of 20 euros per person includes a variety of typical dishes, a drink, tea and dessert.

Manilva's sports department has provided new premises in Castillo de la Duquesa for the practice of sporting activities such as pilates, etc.
The room is situated in the building immediately behind the church and will provide facilities for a number of activities. |

The local business association ACEMCE continues with its aim of supporting the interests of local business and commerce with a programme of initiatives and events for the coming year.
At a recent meeting of the committee plans were drawn up to push forward the association's agenda of promotion, support and the cultivation of a strong community with the local commercial sector, and to this end presents a new season of 'networking breakfasts' the first of which will be held on Thursday November 4 at the H2O restaurant and bar in Puerto de la Duquesa from 8.30 am. These networking events are an ideal way to keep your finger on the pulse of the local business scene, share information, as well as a great opportunity to widen your network of contacts. During this first meeting there will be a short presentation by the creator and owner of Manilva WebSite about the importance of an online presence.

Mary Chiappe, twenty-two years resident in Manilva, began with a witty autobiography, ‘The Grapes of Warmth’ – about settling in this area, now sadly out of print – and moved to co-authoring a historical whodunit series set in Gibraltar. She writes with a childhood friend, Sam Benady, who is a retired paediatrician and amateur historian. An ancestor of his was kidnapped by pirates off this very coast of ours – near la Torre de la Sal - and had to be ransomed by the Consul in Malaga! Mary says her family were not worth kidnapping – ‘Peasants, a cobbler and one gypsy in my ancestry were not abductable material!’
