The blue rucksack had been abandoned next to a rubbish bin and was spotted by Guardia Civil officers who were taking no chances, with the summer season being a popular time for ETA to strike at targets in popular tourist areas.

The all clear was given after a couple of hours by bomb squad officers from Málaga, who investigated the rucksack using a specialist sniffer dog.
