Puerto de la Duquesa

Situated midway between Castillo and Sabinillas is the marina complex of Puerto de la Duquesa. Part of the El Hacho urbanisation this picturesque port is used by both pleasure craft and local fishermen and is well equipped with its boatyard and off-water storage facilities, there are also yacht brokerage, gardienage and maintenance service available from various companies in the Port.

Duquesa Port and the Control Tower

If you don't have your own boat there are several companies offering fishing and pleasure trips as well as a sea school providing RYA courses and boat charter.

The harbour itself is surrounded by attractive apartments and a host of shops, bars and restaurants, this coupled with the restricted vehicular access gives it a pleasant, relaxed ambience, which is a marked contrast to some of the Coast's other marinas, and it is great place to while away an afternoon or evening, or to spend a holiday.

The construction of the port began in the mid 1970s, with the marina itself being opened in 1979 by yachtswoman Claire Francis, whilst the surrounding development is still growing, the latest addition being the 'Mikonos' development by the entrance to the Port. Facilities and surroundings are constantly being improved.

Mooring Permission
If you are already moored at the waiting jetty, you should visit the Control Tower to fill in a mooring application form and to present the boat's documentation, insurance policy, and the identity cards or passports of all the crew. Once this procedure has been completed, you should proceed to move your boat to the mooring that has been allocated to you.

If you arrive outside office hours, the form should be filled in with the duty officer, who can be found in the hut on the waiting jetty. For future reference, please note that you can contact us on channel 9, so that we can allocate a mooring in advance of your arrival. A sailor will assist you during the mooring procedure.

All moorings are supplied with water and electricity. Boats of more than 8 metres in length may choose, if their stay is to be a short one, between the fixed fee or meter reading charge. If you are staying for less than a day, the fixed fee option is preferable, thus avoiding the inconvenience of having to settle your bill just before departure.
