The New Year started with quite a bang, at least it did for residents of an apartment block in Sabinillas today.

The Department of EU Citizens and Foreign Residents, along with the Environment Department, headed by Councillors Rafael Mena and Manuel Ramos respectively are putting together a programme of walks and tours to give foreign residents the opportunity to discover some of Manilva's hidden charms.

Work began this week to demolish the building in Castillo which housed the Church and former nursery school. The old building is to make way for a brand new construction which will house the Church, a new nursery school and various rooms for community use.

The Town Council of Manilva has taken an important step this month towards total access for all citizens of Manilva to its public buildings, by signing a contract with Zardoya Otis to install stairlifts.

Residents at the Camping Chullera II, campsite received a shock last month when they all received a letter from the site's management giving them until the 15th of November, 2006 to remove themselves and their property from the grounds, after which the campsite would be closed and the land cleared.
