Great
Golf and Leisure
Doña Julia Golf is the newest course in
one of the largest new developments on the Coast
Within the development there will be 3 18-hole
golf courses and 1 9 hole practice area, luxury hotels, commercial
and leisure facilities which include 2 full size football pitches,
tennis, squash courts, swimming pools, spas, horse riding center,
just to mention a few.
The first golf course is now complete and has already
become recognized as one of the best for quality.
It is an 18-hole par 72 layout designed by the
famous Antonio Garcia Garrido, and features 18,000 m2 of greens
– huge! Equivalent to St. Andrews two greens in one. Of the
18 holes, 11 of the greens are elevated and feature the beautiful
Mediterranean as a backdrop.
The first nine holes are fairly flat with lakes
and an abundance of trees offering the main challenge. The second
9 holes are more difficult, being longer and surrouded by lakes
and streams. The average width of the fairways is 80 metres.
All in all Doña Julia is a superbly laid
out golf course and a challenge to all handicaps and is already
becoming popular with the locals and visitors alike, so booking
in advance is advisible for your preferred tee times.
One local group who have already visited Doña
Julia Golf and will play there on a regular basis is Hemingways
Golf Society (pictured below) from Duquesa Port.

(L to r) Ben Finlay (caddymaster - Doña Julia Golf), Derek
Staham, Dave Boult, Ray Hampson, Lee Martin, Paul Greenwood, Mark

The 4 ex football players always have plenty of
stories to tell when out on the course, and in the bar later, about
their playing days. Hemingways Golf Society invite both holiday
guests and locals to join them anytime. Everyone is welcome.
Hemingways, If given enough notice by societies
or groups, especially form the UK, can provide a Ryder Cup style
challenge match.
