Designed by legendary course
architect Robert Trent Jones and opened in 1985, La Duquesa's 18
hole course wraps itself around the El Hacho Hill overlooking the
picturesque marina of Puerto de la Duquesa and with views of the
Costa del Sol, Mediterranean and North Africa.
Duquesa Golf is one of the most
varied and spectacular courses on the Costa del Sol. This 6,717
yard par 72 course with it's 5 par 3s; 8 par 4s; 5 par 5s, is enjoyable
for players of all levels. The front nine holes are a real challenge
with narrow fairways and good pin positions, whilst the back nine
holes are a delight with wide fairways, interesting holes and stuning
views of the Mediterranean.
Having played the course many
times myself I can honestly say it's a pleasure to play, and at
an affordable price with discounted rates Duquesa Golf is good value
for money.
After your game you can enjoy
a wide range of food and drink in the clubhouse or sit outside on
the beautiful sun-soaked terrace adjacent to the 18th green - a
beautiful setting.
Like all golf courses on the
Costa del Sol, if you are wanting a souvenir then take a look in
the pro shop. Excellent value for money on clothes, golf equipment,
etc.
Adjacent to the La Duquesa golf
course is the 4-star Hotel La Duquesa which has recently undergone
a major refurbishment to extend and bring the facilities up to the
high standards demanded by the discerning golfer. If you're like
me and like to stay for a week on the grounds of the golf course,
then this is for you. It does not mean that you have to play the
same course over and over, but it is an ideal venue to make your
base.
Besides golf, The Duquesa Golf
Hotel offers outdoor swimming pool, restaurant, bars, gymnasium,
snooker, billiards, sauna, jacuzzi, sun terraces, 3 tennis courts,
4 squash courts, 18 hole par 72 golf course. Note: there is a small
charge for hotel guests wishing to use the gym, sauna, and jacuzzi.
Just a 5 minute walk and you
are in the magnificent Port of Duquesa with its fabulous bars and
restaurants of all nationalities, Spanish, English, Italian, Mexican,
Chinese, Indian, Irish, etc you will find something for everyone.
